Many people ask if they should clean their dishwasher and the answer is yes! Here are 3 simple steps to cleaning your dishwasher which will improve the lifetime of your appliance:

1. Make sure the drain is clear:

First you must remove the bottom dish rack from your dishwasher and inspect your drain. Make sure there is no gunk or food caught in the way of the drain. If there is, clear this away to ensure your drain can function optimally to increase the efficiency of the clean your dishwasher can preform. When this has been completed, place the bottom rack back in your dishwasher.

2. Place a cup of vinegar in your dishwasher:

Next you will need vinegar, most households have vinegar on hand but if you do not, run out to your local grocery store and grab yourself a jug! While you are there, grab baking soda if you need this as well, baking soda is used in the final step of this process. Vinegar is very inexpensive and is an amazing cleaning agent when it comes to cutting away at grease and grim! Place one cup of vinegar on the top rack of your dishwasher. Run your dishwasher on a hot-water cycle to cut away at all the grease and grim. This process will also help remove any unwanted odours.

3. Rinse with baking soda:

Measure one cup of baking soda and sprinkle this across the bottom of your dishwasher. Run your dishwasher on a short hot-water cycle to brighten, remove stains, and provide a fresh smell.
