Among the different areas that need attention, one cannot overlook the importance of deep cleaning household appliances. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to deep clean your major household appliances, including the refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, stovetop, microwave, washer, and dryer:

Major Household Appliances

1. Refrigerator

  • Remove all contents from the refrigerator, and discard expired or spoiled items.
  • Unplug the refrigerator.
  • Remove shelves, drawers, and other removable parts.
  • Prepare a cleaning solution of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
  • Use a microfiber cloth or sponge to clean the surfaces, corners, and crevices of the refrigerator.
  • Rinse shelves and drawers with water and dry them thoroughly.
  • Wipe down the door seals with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or residue.
  • Vacuum the refrigerator coils located at the back or bottom of the appliance.
  • Reassemble the refrigerator, plug it in, and restock it with fresh items.

2. Dishwasher

  • Remove and clean the dishwasher filter located at the bottom of the appliance.
  • Fill a dishwasher-safe bowl with white vinegar and place it on the top rack.
  • Run a hot water cycle without detergent to clean and remove any buildup inside the dishwasher.
  • Sprinkle baking soda on the dishwasher floor and run a short cycle with hot water to remove stains and odours.
  • Wipe down the door and control panel with a damp cloth.

3. Oven and Stovetop

  • Remove grates and burner caps from the stovetop and soak them in hot soapy water to loosen grime and grease.
  • Apply a paste of baking soda and water to the interior surfaces of the oven, avoiding heating elements. Let it sit for several hours or overnight.
  • Use a scrub brush or sponge to scrub away the baking soda paste, lifting grime and grease.
  • Clean the oven door and stovetop with warm soapy water.
  • Rinse grates and burner caps, and dry them thoroughly before reassembling.

4. Microwave

  • Fill a microwave-safe bowl with equal parts water and white vinegar.
  • Microwave the solution for approximately 5 minutes, allowing the steam to soften the grime.
  • Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down the interior walls, ceiling, and turntable.

5. Washer

  • Add 2 cups of white vinegar to the detergent tray.
  • Run a hot cycle without laundry to clean the drum and remove any residues.
  • Use a cloth or sponge with warm soapy water to clean the exterior, control panel, and door.
